.christmas day in London (and other things…)

25 12 2010

First of all apologies for the lack of updates…i had been waiting for the redesign of the site to happen (yes i’m looking at you Hyler!) And inbetween travelling, stolen lost luggage and back catalogue of pictures, i have been spending the last couple of months playing catch-up…so here goes.

Christmas day in London; the one day of the year when the transport system shuts down, the day before the sales and countdown to Valentines Day, when people are forced to walk, the streets are empty and people are behind brightly lit windows with the ones they want to be with…oh and the Queen’s speech!

i prefer to walk the streets capturing the sights that are usually packed with people…surprisingly there were a great number of people outdoors so i didn’t feel as bad for choosing to spend it alone..of course that was till the bitter cold kicked in and forced me indoors…

here’s to another xmas notch on the belt.

.roue de paris

4 08 2010

Have always loved long exposure photography so immediately i stumbled across Roue de Paris i knew it would make a good subject, problem hower was being that it closed at midnight i had so much to photograph around paris at night and most of the lights on the monuments go off at 1am…and with summer darkness kicking in around 10pm there was never enough time…

Another day, another city.

About just recovered from an intense week of filming for the second timelapse instalment this time in Pariss. It was impossible to even scratch the surface of visual Paris but one thing i found was my constant fascination with the Eiffel tower, i even had to put a limit on how many images i could take as it was taking away from the overall aesthetic of what i wanted to capture.

All in all here are my favorite shots of that enduring monument.

.a tale of two bridges

18 07 2010

Spent the hot day, into evening at the Brooklyn Bridge Park filming a timelapse of the BK Bridge (more to come on that later) and  was drawn to the lines of the BK and Washington Bridges,as usual the sunset was impressive…i am still trying to get into taking more pictures of people over objects….but bridges just stand there and look grand…whats not to love about that!

.adventures with timelapse

1 06 2010

While in Los Angeles and delayed by the volcano i had lots of time on my hands affording the perfect opportunity to practice a technique i had always admired but never quite figured out – Timelapse photography – (which is essentially taking a picture/frame every so often and compiling them in post). As you  can imagine its very time intensive and it being my first attempt i kept it brief. I think it turned out great…more to come in the future.

Getting a little anxious over the flight cancellations in Europe, coincidently this is the second time i have been caught up in a “weather calamity” the last being the Eurostar mess over xmas with the heavy snow…anyway spent some time around Union station filming segments for my documentary and then the night shooting around Los Angeles. I’m feeling pretty confident with night photography
